Completed 259 miles and 13,884 feet of climb
Route: 65 miles from Demariscotta, ME to Poland, ME. 3700 feet of climb.
I’m beginning to settle into the rhythm of the ride. In the morning my camp breaks down and packs up a little faster, getting started on the bike a bit earlier, and when we arrive the tent goes back up faster. Things are pretty wet as we pack up the tent to start riding. And more rain in the forecast for today. Lots of beautiful scenery – I’m already thinking about how to get back here to explore this area further!
Logistics – meals. Meals are a shared responsibility. Every 6 days I’m paired with another rider to take care of the food for the day. That means getting to the destination by 4pm and riding in the van to a grocery store. There we purchase the supplies to make dinner, breakfast the next morning, as well as food for each rider to pack a lunch for the road. Breakfast and lunch are pretty normal – cereal, yogurt etc. for breakfast and sandwiches or wraps for lunch. Dinners are up to the imagination of the cooks – and the limitations of the store. A three burner gas stove and lots of pots and pans are at our disposal. I’ll share a few meal examples later.

Excellent posts Liz! You are on track!! 🥰🚴🏻♀️
