Liz's Bike Adventure

Thanks for being part of my cross-country bike ride from from Bar Harbor, Maine to Anacortes, Washington. I’ll be posting updates along the way and invite you to be part of the journey by:

On to Illinois - but not without breathing a lot of smoke! A mask definitely helped although not fun on the bike. Small towns and small businesses like Janie's Mill - they provided a nice tour! On to Indiana and lots of corn and wheat fields. While riding towards a zero day (day off), guess who came came riding along? My son Daniel! what a surprise to have him around for my day off! Into Ohio where I passed the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame! We did not escape the rain, however... We had a rest day at Niagara Falls before continuing into Pennsylvania and Ohio. In Ohio we passed near one of the other riders houses where he had a cake waiting that was decorated with an image of the group! I got back on the bike and slowly started building my mileage. A lot of this riding was along the Erie Canal path. Our overnight on the 4th of July we camped right next to the Erie Canal. NY was very wet and smokey. I had to sit out a few days due to my knee but still enjoyed the scenery along the way. Our second rest day was in Old Forge, NY where Dan took a group photo. After 10 days of riding and more than 20,000 feet of climbs, my knee starts giving me trouble. I stopped to talk to some folks beside the road and they directed me to a PT office just up the road. Unfortunately, this meant that the bike was going on top of the van for a few days... From Maine into New Hampshire. The rain continues as we cross the White Mountains and the Appalachian Trail. Rain riding across Maine! What better place to warm up than a Coffee and Bike shop.
