I was too busy to think much about posting – even if there was access to the internet, power, and weather that would not soak my computer!  These first days were largely about settling into a routine – with the bike, camping equipment, new friends, and of course the rides.  The daily mileage was not a challenge, but there was a lot of climbing and much of that was steeper than we are used to in NC.  And then there was the weather – cold and rainy.  It was hard to stop and take pictures even though I passed through many beautiful little villages and towns.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

About the logistics.  I\u2019ll cover this over a few posts.  For the basics – there are 11 riders and 2 leaders.   We stay mostly in campgrounds but occasionally a motel or hostel.  Most of the campgrounds are commercial – that is, they have electricity, showers, and maybe even internet and laundry facilities. Every 5-9 days we take a day off – what\u2019s called a \u201czero\u201d day meaning no mileage.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

June 16-19 covered 200 miles, over 10,000 feet of climbs from Bar Harbor to Damariscotta, ME<\/p>\n\n\n\n
