September 9 and 10 was the big Bike MS event in New Bern, NC. Sgt Dan acted as team lead for the Missing Spokes while Elizabeth finished up her ride in Washington. After getting back to Raleigh from New Bern Sunday night, Dan was “wheels up” flying west by 9 am Monday morning to meet Elizabeth in Anacortes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The plane feels empty westbound – there is plenty of room for Elizabeth and her gear on the return.<\/em><\/strong><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

After one night in Anacortes, we made the short hop over to San Juan Island and Friday Harbor. After a late lunch we explore the southern peninsula and lighthouse for a quick 20 mile ride.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Oysters at Wescott Bay – part of a 30 mile bike ride<\/em><\/strong><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

After two nights at Friday Harbor another short hop put us on the island of Orcas. Immediately after landing we took a relatively short 20 mile ride up Mount Constitution where we gained over 22 00 feet in about 5 miles. The views from the top were amazing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It’s now Saturday and we are beginning our flight back today — after we enjoy the morning in Eastsound on Orcas Island. We have a few stops planned and we’ll be back in a few days.
